Benchmarking Employee Engagement among Federal Contractors
Since initiating this service in November 2006, HumanR has surveyed 63 business units of 16 Federal Contractors, producing the first-ever collection of normative data that exclusively meets the needs of this community.
The data on employee engagement is compelling. Highly engaged employees are more productive, more likely to take the initiative and do what is right for the business, and more likely to be loyal to the organization.
Using employee survey responses, we have constructed and validated an Employee Engagement Index. The Index shows participating organizations the percentage of their employees that are Highly Engaged, Engaged, and Disengaged - and how their percentages compare with the norms for other Federal Contractors.

How is this information used? Each survey respondent is assigned an engagement score, which is then used as a variable for analysis. By reporting how employees at each of the three levels of engagement rate the items on the survey, we provide insights into how employees' perceptions vary as a function of their engagement level. This level of analysis enables companies to focus their resources on initiatives that impact engagement (e.g., to move "Engaged" employees to "Highly Engaged").
